With the community's support, Mt. San Antonio College can continue to provide classes and services through the pandemic.This Summer, the COVID-19 vaccination mandate has been lifted. The COVID-19 vaccine is recommended, but not required.

      COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate Lifted

      Thanks to declining COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations in the region, the state of California and the county of Los Angeles have eased COVID-19 prevention strategies. After considering the latest data and balancing risks and responsibilities at its April meeting, the Mt. San Antonio College Board of Trustees has decided not to renew the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for students taking classes on campus.Beginning this Summer Intersession, students may take in-person classes and use in-person services regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status.

      GET VACCINATED

      COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and free. They are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Booster doses should be taken 5 months after the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or 2 months after a Johnson & Johnson dose. Individuals can choose which vaccine to receive as a booster dose. Learn more through theLos Angeles County Public Health vaccine website.       Face Coverings Strongly Encouraged

      With increased COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations in the region, the county of Los Angeles is strongly encouraging face coverings indoors, regardless of vaccination status.Some campus locations require face coverings regardless of vaccination status, such as the Health Center and some programs.

      Free surgical masks continue to be available through classroom safety kits and dispensers across campus.

      PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests Available

      • WHO: All on-campus employees and students can take a free COVID-19 PCR Test or Rapid Antigen Test on campus.

      Rapid Antigen Testing for Those COVID-19 Positive

      • WHO: Mounties who are COVID-19 positive should immediately notify the Contact Tracing Department through theonline Health Check Form, calling (909) 274-6900 or emailingcontacttracing@mtsac.edu. Contact Tracers will help them understand their isolation requirements as well as identify close contacts. Employees should also notify their managers. Following public health and Cal/OSHA guidelines, isolation can end and individuals may return to campusafterDay 5, as long as symptoms are not present or are resolving, and anantigen test collected on Day 5 or later tests negative. COVID-19 positive employees are required to take the proctored COVID-19 antigen test on Day 5 if they have no fever without fever reducing medication and they have no symptoms or their symptoms have improved. Employees who test negative on the antigen test are required to return to work on campus on Day 6.

      Use Cleared4 Link to Schedule COVID-19 Tests and Upload Records

      While vaccinations are no longer required this Summer, Cleared4 remains available for the campus community to upload vaccination records, schedule free COVID-19 tests, and track test results.

      Handling COVID-19 Symptoms and Exposure

      STAY HOME IF SICK

      As a reminder, anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should stay home. COVID-19 symptoms include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, new loss of taste/smell, sore throat, runny nose, congestion, sneezing, nausea, diarrhea, and so on.

      FILL OUT A HEALTH CHECK

      To report symptoms or exposure to COVID-19, fill out aStudent Health Check Form. This form is critical to trigger a campus response from Contact Tracers, Public Safety, Custodial Services and more. Students should also notify their professors and/or campus employers. You can also communicate with Contact Tracers through the contact information below.

      ISOLATION AND QUARANTINE

In Los Angeles County, if you have COVID-19, you must: (1) isolate yourself, (2) wear a mask indoors and outdoors and (3) tell your close contacts they have been exposed and need to follow instructions for close contacts.       QUARANTINEis used to keep someone who has been exposed to a person with COVID-19 away from others. They are sometimes called close contacts. Quarantine helps prevent the spread of disease before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms.       Emergency Grant

      Students who have expressed an exceptional need related to any component of the following are eligible for an emergency grant referral:

      • Any component in the student’s cost of attendance (current or future costs if related to support student’s re-enrollment at the College); and/or
      • For emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.

      California College Student Grant

      To support California college students through these unprecedented times, MAF has established the CA College Student Support Fund. Eligible students will receive a $500 grant to help manage their financial needs – whether that's class materials, rent, or personal expenses. Learn more through theMission Asset Fund.

      Scholarship Program

      Avariety of scholarships are available to qualified students, based on need, merit, major and/or educational goals. Students must submit aMt. SAC General Scholarship Applicationonline before the screening deadline.

      CARES Act Emergency Grant

      The CARES Act has provided limited federal funds for emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. To request this emergency grant, contact the Mt. San Antonio College Financial Aid Office atfinancialaid@mtsac.edu. The emergency aid is to be used for an URGENT need related to a currently enrolled student’s expense caused by COVID-19.
